Issue #80: Dirty World (Lil Boosie Interview)

By Maurice Garland • Nov 11th, 2009 • Category: Interviews, Issue #80

Aug09-45

Facing a year in jail with what was “supposed” to be a classic album in stores, Boosie reveals why he actually hates being Superbad.

“It’s a dirty world that we live in
Can’t even trust ya own family at times…
Nigga will make your whole family cry.”
- Lil Boosie “Dirty World”

Lil Boosie isn’t crying, and neither are any of the other people in his midtown Atlanta hotel room. But he sure does look pissed off. In town for the BET Hip Hop Awards, Boosie Bad Azz is apparently having a bad day. Opting to do his interviews from his hotel room instead of coming outside, he isn’t much in the mood for talking. Hell, it almost sounds like he isn’t really in the mood to go to the award show either. After all, he wasn’t nominated for anything.

Lil Boosie and Trill Ent. Release Official Statement Regarding His Four Year Sentence

By Maurice Garland • Nov 10th, 2009 • Category: Uncategorized

Yesterday, November 9, 2009, Torrance Hatch, better known as the hit-making Rapper, Lil’ Boosie, was sentence to four years in the Louisiana Department of Corrections for 3rd Offense Possession of Marijuana, a felony in Louisiana. Judge Richard “Chip” Moore of the East Baton Rouge Parish Court handed down a ten year sentence today, but suspended six years, which will allow Hatch be released in as little as 16 months on parole or approximately 21 months with good behavior.

When Hatch originally entered a guilty plea in September, the Court promised Hatch a sentence of two years if Hatch abided by all conditions of bond pending sentencing. These conditions included an electronic ankle monitoring device and prior court approval to leave home for any purpose, including promotion of his Top Ten release of “SuperBad: The Return of Boosie Bad Azz.” Hatch violated this agreement and thus received a more severe sentence than originally contemplated.

Hatch AKA Lil Boosie was remanded yesterday.

Boosie, himself, has written the following statement:
“I made some very foolish choices, but I was doing the best I could to provide for my family before I went away to jail. Clearly I exercised terrible judgment and I hope to get the opportunity to prove that I can make great decisions for my family and the community in the future. Boosie may be gone but he won’t be forgotten. He recently put the finishing touches on the feature film: “Ghetto Stories: The Movie” due out early 2010 and has just wrapped shooting the DVD: “Boosie The Last Days.”

Boosie Sentenced to 4 Years In Prison

By Maurice Garland • Nov 10th, 2009 • Category: News, Videos

Damn. When we interviewed Boosie not too long ago, he was looking forward to doing his year, getting out and getting back to business. Looks like that plan has gone awry for now.

The Art of Negotiation

Why, why, why are people so stupid?

I don’t know which question Boosie is pondering above (photo by Diwang Valdez from Boosie’s interview in the next issue of OZONE Mag), but this is the question I’ve been pondering in my head all day. It seems that people believe anything they read on the internet, no matter how false or how twisted. How did a simple scenario of me negotiating a 100% legitimate deal – as I do every day, all day – turn into some blogger I’ve never heard of before trying to defame my name?

For almost two years my lil side hustle/booking agency, Agency Twelve, has successfully brokered deals for many artists – show bookings and features, primarily. Lil Boosie is one of those artists. Boosie went to jail today – I was told that he will be serving two years, but the Baton Rouge local news reported 4 years – so who knows. In any case, the sentence came as somewhat of a shock to him and he seemed to be stressing out trying to get his affairs in order before going away.

Maurice Garland sat down with Lil Boosie for Ozone while the Baton Rouge rapper was in town for the BET Hip Hop awards for what will probably be one of his last interviews before he begins his impending jail sentence next month.

As always, Boosie wore his emotions on his sleeve in this interview the same way he does when he makes his music speaking on everything to why he actually hates his new album Superbad to how the same courtroom sending him to jail is the same one that sentenced Mystikal. Leading up to when the issue hits newsstands, we’re going to share some of the more explosive and entertaining quotes with you.
