FEEDBACK

I thought your interview with Wendy Day was fantastic. It’s not common to get renowned industry players like her to open up like that. You asked all the right questions and got straight answers; that’s truly commendable. Keep up the great work. - Carl Bosse, Landmark Entertainment Committee, carlbosse9@aol.com (Miami, FL)

I read your article on the video directors, the Fat Cats, and just wanted to let you know how rude they were to me. I was also present at the Ludacris video shoot, and was handing out promotional mix CDs. I attempted to hand a CD to one of the Fat Cats and he greeted me with a cold shoulder. I understand that he was at work, but he didn’t seem to be busy at the time. I assured him that the CD was free and I wasn’t asking him to get me a record deal or anything. I have worked in promotions for a long time, and have never been shunned that way by any other celebrities, media, or even a video director. If the opportunity ever comes for my artist to shoot a video in the future, you can be damn sure the Fat Cats won’t be directing it. - Boogie (Atlanta, GA)

I love OZONE because y’all hold it down for the indie labels and give local artists a chance to express their talent, and that’s cool. We’re pushing our album out of the trunk. When our next album drops, we’ll make sure that we have a couple of pages in OZONE ‘cause y’all are the shit. - Mal-Jay, Grenade Records, maljay2002@yahoo.com (Miami, FL)

I must say that your magazine does offer real insight to what it takes to make it in this jungle called the music industry. Me and my business partners use your magazine as an outline to our own path to success. Whether it’s an ad for a music convention or just a feature on an artist or executive, those words mean so much to those of us who are trying to make good music. We want to be entertaining to those who are listening casually, but also fulfilling to those who are listening critically. Those are two fundamentals of music that a lot of people don’t seem to grasp, but you do make that point clear with every issue you publish. Shoutouts to TJ Chapman for opening my eyes to the product that you at OZONE make come to life every month. If there are any hints you can give us towards establishing our record label, please do so because your words are pure gold. - Jay-C, Dead Broke Records, dbr_entertaiment@hotmail.com (Tallahassee, FL)

JB, I just read your 2 Cents about how you got started with the magazine. I got much love for you and your grind. Keep it comin’! – Big Cee Jay, bigceejay@stepoutoflinepromotion.com (St. Petersburg, FL)

Thanks for showing Sly Kat some love in your magazine. I just heard his new song on 99 Jamz the other day. It’s so refreshing to hear some music with real lyrics representing Dade County and hip-hop at the same time. I like DirtBag, but his style is so limited to his drawl and catch phrases that he loses me. Sly isn’t just another cameo on a track. It seems to me that he’s got a lot more in store for us. I don’t think Miami or hip-hop is ready for this Kat. He’s bringing back what drew most of us to hip-hop. All that glitter and flossing is not what hip-hop was all about back then, so we’ve got the real true quality of what the art has to offer. The passion, truth, and soul of the artist; I can feel all that hunger and drive in Sly’s delivery. Keep up the good work over at OZONE. – Hennessy, hennessy305@bellsouth.net (Miami, FL)

Orlando, what’s up with y’all? I mean, you got this dude G Money kissing everybody’s ass in the music game, and then he gets busted for selling bootleg CDs and DVDs at the Magic Mall. Come on, dude, you’re 45 years old. That’s jitterbug stuff. Sit ya old ass down. And what’s up with Clientell radio, where them cats at? They was doing their thing. I hear Baby Lac he still doing clubs, and White Boi Pizal, he’s still doing his thug dizzle. Him and his boy DJ Mello, they got one of the crunkest spots on a Saturday night. And why is Prostyle so bigheaded, he ain’t about shit. Y’all keep blowing his head up like he some real fuckin’ superstar. Flossin’ like he from New York. Nigga, you from the backwoods. Nasty, he’s cool though. I mean, y’all just need to start showing mad love to the real street DJs, not them old bubblegum-ass niggas. Hell, give Disco & the City Boyz some love, show Clientell DJs and Mega DJs some love. Now all of them are some real ass street DJs. I mean, you call your mag the OZONE, so show the OZONE some love. ‘Nuff said. And I like all the pics, too. – Treal Land, homeofdatreal@hotmail.com (Orlando, FL)

Yo, I was just in my barbershop chillin’ and I found y’all magazine and read all of it. I just wanted to send my appreciation, ‘cause not many thangs are out to cover the Southern music scene. Y’all are making it easier for young boys like me to know what’s goin’ on. – Xero Halo, will2118@bellsouth.net (Jacksonville, FL)

I just read your "patiently waiting" article on Akon on your website. He’s sweet as fuck. Keep dropping that hot shit! – OCB Crooked I, dizocb@yahoo.com

Awesome issue this month. The piece on Wendy Day was extremely impressive, and your joint on the Green-Eyed Bandit Erick Sermon was on-point. He’s one of my all-time favorites. Very good work and solid content. No fluff, just strictly hip-hop. Tight work! – Tony Cohiba, tonycohiba@adelphia.net (Orlando, FL)

I just picked up the May issue of OZONE Mag. There’s just one word to describe it: FIRE! You guys are definitely working with something here. Keep u p the good work. You’ve got a new subscriber. – PS & Non-U, zagoodi2@aol.com (West Palm Beach, FL)

Yo! I was just looking at your website and I just saw an old picture in your magazine of Peedi Crakk in the bathtub. How did you guys get that picture is what I’m wondering? I always thought that Peedi Crakk was a very handsome nigga, but this picture scares me! – Racheal McWashington, Ms_Spittuh@yahoo.com (Houston, TX)

Editor responds: The picture was dropped off by an anonymous female at our Miami office about a year ago. We didn’t print it to put Peedi on blast; we just thought it was amusing.

Your magazine is the pulse of the streets. I currently work at 33rd St. jail and have been a big fan of your magazine since the beginning. I get requests from inmates here all the time to sneak them a copy of the magazine, and I think that’s hilarious. Just wanted to tell you guys to keep up the good work. - Darrell Scott, bigscottco@yahoo.com (Orlando, FL)

Thanks for your cover story on Pitbull. I’m Cuban too, and it’s hot that Pitbull is Cuban like me. We don’t give a fuck ‘cause as Cubans we stay the same, die the same, and ride by the same hand, so it’s all about effort. I wish Pitbull the best in everything he does. - Blood, t6m-blood@cfl.rr.com (Orlando, FL)

Corrections: There were two incorrect photo captions on page 19 of our June edition: #08 was Amare Stoudamire and Chubby Relle @ Firestone for Dawgman’s birthday party, and #10 was Mr. Mauricio and DJ Entice @ Club Mansion. The fourth person in photo #13 on page 13 was Craig B of the Medicine Men, not Tony.

Also, we recently received a phone call in regards to our June "patiently waiting to blow" article on Lil’ Boosie. In that article, we incorrectly stated that Boosie has "no record deal, no management, and no marketing staff." We would like to retract that statement, since it turns out that Boosie does have a manager and is signed to Pimp C’s Trill Entertainment. His rhyming partner Webbie was also not mentioned in the article.
