Man Fatally Shot At Entrance To Beverly Center
A man was fatally shot at the entrance to the Beverly Center mall this afternoon, and police were searching for two suspects. [Updated at 5:15 p.m.: Police arrest one "person of interest" in connection with the shooting but were looking for a second suspect].
The shooting occurred just after 3 p.m. at the La Cienega Boulevard entrance to the popular Westside shopping center. All entrances and exits to the popular Westside shopping mall were sealed off as police swarmed the scene.
LAPD officials said that officers were sent to the mall on a report of a group fight, possibly involving a knife. LAPD Sgt. Ronnie Crump said two suspects ran in the direction of Beverly Hills.
At a Chipotle restaurant in the mall, several people were eating when the shots rang out.
“The customers were yelling ‘close the store, close the store, because somebody is shooting,’ †said Elsa Hernandez, general manager of the restaurant.
An employee who was behind the restaurant, near the mall’s valet parking service, saw the tail end of the dispute, Hernandez said. “He saw a lady … shooting a handgun,†Hernandez said.
The center is normally quite peaceful, said Hernandez, who’s worked at the restaurant for six years. “This is the first time this has happened here,†she said.

Damn bro was just talking bout this shit on his last song. damn
The news that rapper Rodrick Anthony Burton II better known to most as Dolla was a complete surprise to many in the Hip Hop community and a very big surprise to me being that I have represented his cousin Sas (www.myspace.com/sasfireinthehole) for well over three years and was very close to his family. Some of you may remember that prior to Dolla signing with Akon and Konvict Muzik he along with his cousins were members of a young teen group Da Razkalz Cru which was under Elecktra Records. Sylvia Rhone personally signed Dolla, Sas, and Scrap to the group under a multi-million dollar deal. The group had worked with Puff Daddy, Polow Da Don, DJ Toomp, and a list of other notable producers when labels were giving real budgets out. Dolla had been a little disappointed recently because he was dropped by Jive Records and decided to head toLA to work on his first album. His song “Who Da F*ck is Dat” was a 2008 summer banger that featured T-Pain with appearances by Akon’s brother Abu Thiam and other Atlanta notables. In 2007, Dolla performed at Radio One’s Dirty Awards alongside his cousin Scrap and received huge applauds by the crowd. Funeral details will be provided once they become available.
damn…….it’s a very traggic accident! I don’t know and don’t wanna know the reason of it, but whatever the reaon is, it’s not worth taking someone’s life!!!!…When is black on black crime gonna stop? anyway, “Dolla” I know that you’re resting in peace…and to the family, my heart goes out to you!
Damn shame this young man lost his life. I listened to Georgia nights and that some was amazing, kind of predicted his death, as many rappers have, damn homie. Big shout out to Maurice Garland your doing your thing homie.
