Craigslist Shutting Down “Erotic Services”

In our 2007 Sex Issue, features editor Eric Perrin did a story on internet prostitution, a growing phenomenon due in large part to Craigslist’s “Erotic Services” section.

Today it was reported that Craigslist will be shutting down their digital brothel and moving it to an adult oriented section of the site where advertisers will have to go through a screening process and pay a fee to promote their “services.”

Sex wasn’t the problem here. Craigslist is reacting after weeks of scrutiny after a masseuse was murdered by a client who hired her through the site. Not to toot any horns, but, we don’t think many people in the Hip Hop community knew about this underground digital world until they read Eric’s story. If you missed it when it dropped, here are some links.

  1. This is not a surprise to me, i knew this shit was going to happen. I have a friend that was doing crazy shit like robbing the prostitutes and then come brag about it to me the next day, dude was making like $5k a week. Craigslist got too dangerous, alot of females put themselves at risk. Now that a girl got murdered something had to be done about it.

  2. damn robbing them would be easy, only thing u have to worry about is if they have somebody with them, pimp or bodyguard or if it’s the police lol

  3. Let one of u niccas try to get one of MY bitches. Put a hole in yo SOUL. I STAY on the lookout for robbin boyz, and other robbing hoez. Part of the game. But now, they need to legalize the sex industry. The upside is it’d be safer. The downside? EVERYONE’s DAUGHTER would be sellin pussy for a living!!!
