50 Cent Goes Off In Da Club

I admit this post is kind of unfair because there were several other performers at Bay Bay’s 10x Platinum Birthday Bash (Yung Joc, Young Dro, Yung LA, Paul Wall, Trai-D), but the sheer fact that 50 Cent, the guy who seemingly never leaves his castle in Connecticut came to perform in Shreveport, Louisiana of all places, merits of post of it’s own. 50 brought Banks and Yayo along with him, and the G-Unit trio delivered nothing less than an iconic performance for the homie Hollyhood Bay Bay. Â

50 Cent once clowned Hurricane Chris’ hit song, “Ay Bay Bay,” but last Friday he came to the spot that inspired Chris to record the song. Club Kokopellis, which is famously known as being “so hot up in the club, I ain’t got no shoes on,” is a huge three level nightclub in Shreveport, Louisiana that manages to be both hood as hell and upscale at the same time. Purple and pink weave laced heads are prevalent, but the club also has a red carpet to walk down, an array of pool tables, and is fully handicap accessible with elevators and large lcd monitors that display real-time video from different parts of the club.
Â
Koko’s, as it is more commonly referred to as, was definitely jumpin’ last Friday night. The whole city was buzzing, which was evident after we arrived in Shreveport early in the afternoon and toured the city with Yung Joc, Paul Wall and Yung LA. Bay Bay initally lured us to Shreveport by spreading a rumor that 50 Cent was going to be there, but honestly I didn’t believe that in the slightest.  He even alluded to 50’s planned appearance all throughout the day, but I still didn’t believe Pimpin’ Curly was really going to be there. Around 8pm when I left the hotel after a brief nap and the valet out front anxiously reported that 50 Cent had just checked in, I didn’t believe him either.
It wasn’t that I doubted Bay Bay’s clout, or ability to bring prominent acts to his birthday party, but 50 Cent in Shreveport? Yeah right.  I’ve been to a million events from New York to California and the only time I even caught a glimpse of Fif’ in the 4 years I’ve been doing this was at the BET Hip Hop Awards last October.
We got to the club early, and the line was already a block long. The first performers hit the stage around 1am, and the show was jamming even without 50. Paul Wall and the onslaught of Y(o)ung’s definitely did their thing. Finally, by 3am it seemed like the night was over. Dro, Joc, and LA performed a raucous finale and then Bay Bay came on stage to thank them. I was standing on stage towards the DJ booth and was just about ready to pack my camera up when he started talking that G-Unit shit again. I was like, “C’mon Bay Bay, give it up.” And then, low and behold I see an angry Tony Yayo walking up the stairs yelling for me to get everybody off the stage. I don’t know how I got to stay on, but luckily they never tried to kick me off. Maybe 50 is an OZONE fan just like Diddy?Â
When 50 hit the stage he instantly seized the opportunity to take a few blows at the opening acts, stating something on the lines of, “There’s been a lot of young’s here tonight…Young Dro, Yung LA, and who was that last nigga? Oh yeah, Yung Joc. All you were missing was Young Jeeeeeezy.” He laughed it off in that cynical 50 Cent manner and then instantly started the kill. Instead of performing just one or two songs, 50, Banks, and Yayo performed damn near their whole catalogue, literally putting on an arena style concert. Midway through the show 50 took the time to announce how important relationships are in life.
Stating, “I haven’t performed at a nightclub in over two years. I don’t do anything but arenas and stadiums. Nobody could even pay me enough to come to Shreveport, Louisiana and perform at a club, but I fuck with Bay Bay and he fucks with me, so I’m here outta love.” Then a girl asked him to take his shirt off, and 50 looked at her and said, “No, you take your shirt off.” She declined his offer, so he got back to the music.
50 performed hits I forgot he had, even rapping verses from songs like The Game’s “Envy Me,” and Lil Kim’s ”Magic Stick.” It was easily one of the top three performances I’ve ever witnessed. By 4am, 50 was still going, even when the lights came on. He finally concluded his show around 4:15am, and even took a few pics with some of the interlopers who snuck up on stage.
Over the last 4 years, I had become somewhat of a 50 hater, especially because virtually everyone he beefs with is an OZONE ally, but this show alone reestablished me as somewhat of a 50 fan, at least for a day.

I don’t have anything bad to say about 50cent but it sounded kinda like he felt like he was doing Shreveport a favor by performing there.Shreveport been jumping for along time,if he would not have been there it would have still been popping. That’s how it is in the south;either you get it crunk or you get punkd.
Finally this nigga keepin it real again
